Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct of B.J.S. Rampuria Jain College, Bikaner, serves as a comprehensive framework defining the standards of behavior, discipline, and ethical responsibility expected from all members of the college community.
This Code applies to all students, faculty, administrative staff, and any other individual associated with the institution, whether on or off the campus, in any activity related to the college.

The purpose of this Code is to promote an atmosphere of integrity, mutual respect, academic excellence, and professionalism, ensuring that every member contributes positively to the values and reputation of the institution.


1. General Expectations

All members of the institution shall conduct themselves with dignity, propriety, and discipline. They shall uphold honesty, fairness, and respect in all academic and social interactions, both within and outside the college premises. Compliance with institutional rules, regulations, and directions issued by competent authorities is mandatory. Members shall at all times act in a manner that enhances the honor and reputation of the college and contributes to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.


2. Liability for Disciplinary Actions

Any act of indiscipline, misconduct, negligence, or violation of this Code shall render the person concerned liable to disciplinary action. The nature of the action—ranging from warning, reprimand, fine, suspension, expulsion, or termination—shall depend upon the gravity and recurrence of the offence.
The college reserves the right to take appropriate measures to uphold discipline and institutional integrity. Ignorance of the rules shall not be considered a valid defense for any violation.


3. Acts of Misconduct

The following acts, among others, shall be treated as misconduct and may invite disciplinary proceedings:

  1. Disobedience or insubordination to lawful instructions issued by competent authorities.
  2. Use of abusive, indecent, or defamatory language or behavior.
  3. Willful damage to or misuse of college property.
  4. Cheating, plagiarism, forgery, or other forms of academic dishonesty.
  5. Possession, consumption, or distribution of intoxicants or narcotic substances on campus.
  6. Participation in or abetment of ragging, harassment, or discrimination in any form.
  7. Disorderly conduct, violence, or disturbance of academic or administrative functions.
  8. Unauthorized absence or negligence of duty.
  9. Spreading rumors or false information that may harm the reputation of the college or its members.
  10. Any conduct unbecoming of a member of the institution or prejudicial to its interests.

All such cases shall be investigated and dealt with in accordance with the prescribed disciplinary procedure.


4. Private Business or Employment

No student, faculty member, or staff shall engage in any private business, trade, or employment that interferes with their primary academic or institutional responsibilities.
Faculty members seeking to undertake consultancy, remunerative assignments, or external engagements must obtain prior written permission from the competent authority.
Failure to do so shall constitute a breach of conduct and attract disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the management.


5. Unauthorized Communication of Information

No member of the institution shall, without proper authorization, communicate or disclose any official or confidential information, record, or document to any external person, agency, or media.
Information related to examinations, student records, administrative decisions, or institutional operations shall be treated as confidential.
Only authorized persons may issue official statements or represent the college in any public or media interaction. Any unauthorized disclosure shall be regarded as a serious offence.


6. Attendance

Regular attendance and punctuality are compulsory for all students and faculty members.
Students must attend all lectures, tutorials, seminars, and institutional functions as per the academic calendar. A minimum attendance percentage, as stipulated by the affiliating university, is required for eligibility to appear in examinations.
Absence without prior sanction or satisfactory reason shall be treated as indiscipline. Faculty members are likewise expected to adhere strictly to the teaching schedule and maintain records of attendance.


7. Representation

No individual shall represent the college or act on its behalf in any capacity without the prior written approval of the Principal or competent authority.
The use of the college name, logo, insignia, or resources for personal, political, or commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.
All representations, public statements, or participations in external events shall be consistent with the objectives and dignity of the institution and must be approved through the proper channel.


8. Teachers’ Duties

Teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of shaping students’ intellectual and ethical development. They shall discharge their duties with sincerity, impartiality, and professional commitment. Their core obligations include:

  1. Delivering instruction effectively and in accordance with the prescribed syllabus and timetable.
  2. Maintaining discipline, decorum, and moral conduct within the classroom and campus.
  3. Conducting examinations and evaluations objectively and fairly.
  4. Providing academic guidance, counseling, and mentoring to students.
  5. Participating actively in research, institutional development, and co-curricular initiatives.
  6. Preserving confidentiality of academic and administrative matters.
  7. Demonstrating integrity, respect, and impartiality in all professional dealings.
  8. Serving as role models by upholding ethical, civic, and social responsibilities.

Non-compliance with these duties may invite administrative or disciplinary action.


9. Interpretation and Enforcement

The authority to interpret and enforce the provisions of this Code rests with the Principal and the Governing Body of the college.
Any matter not specifically covered under this Code shall be decided by the competent authority in the spirit of fairness and institutional policy.
The decision of the Principal or Management in all disciplinary or interpretative matters shall be final and binding.
This Code shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain operative until amended or replaced by due authority.
