Mr. Shankar Roy

Mr. Shankar Roy is an accomplished artist and academician based in Bikaner. He completed his B.F.A. (Painting) from B.J.S. Rampuria Jain College, M.G.S.U. Bikaner in 2008, graduating with a Gold Medal. He went on to earn his M.F.A. in Fine Arts from the Rajasthan School of Arts, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, in 2010. During his postgraduate studies, he also worked as an assistant painter for leading contemporary artists, gaining valuable professional exposure. Mr. Roy began his career as a freelance artist and art teacher, showcasing his versatility through illustrations, sculpture, scrap work, and mixed media art. Deeply fascinated by realistic art since childhood, he is particularly passionate about portraiture. His artworks often reflect human emotions, compassion, and inner conflict, and he extensively uses mixed media to explore creativity and expression. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor, Mr. Roy brings 13 years of teaching experience in the field of Painting. His teaching interests include the History of Painting, Contemporary Art Movements, Aesthetics (Western & Indian), Portraiture, Miniature Painting, Landscape, Printmaking, Mural, Sketching, Sculpture, Creative Composition, and the exploration of fantastical mysticism in art. He takes pride in the achievements of his students and continues to inspire them through his passion for realistic art, especially portraiture, which remains his most cherished medium.
